About the farm
Sweet Berry is a classic Sidamo style natural with a built in premium that the exporter and washing station owner, Shochoch Trading, are using to create a drinking water well in Miyah village. The village is located in the South Bench District of the Bench Sheko zone. The objective of the Miyah Village Pure Water Project is to build pure water well or spring for coffee producing farmers in Miyah Village. The Village is well known with its high quality coffee producer farmers. Miyah village farmers supply their coffee to Shochoch Trading PLC’s Coffee washing and drying site.
Coffee farmers and all farmers in the area have no access to pure drinkable water; and they have been using a river, natural springs and waters that are not treated or confirmed as safe for drinking.
The community has been requesting the local government to construct a pure water well or spring for several years. However, due to the capacity limitations with the local governments along with the existence of several villages who demand same projects, it has been not possible to construct a pure drinkable water source for the community. After the completion of this project, farmers around the project site will be able to drink pure water
The Project site will serve 50 to 100 households and 150 to 300 family members. Apart from the individual families, school students and church members will also be able to use the pure water.
