Vietnam is the second largest coffee producer in the world although most of this is Robusta for the instant coffee and blending markets, its Arabica production is little known.
The South of the country belongs to the hot and moisture tropical climate and is suitable for Robusta cultivation. The North, with cold winter and showers, is suitable for Arabica cultivation.
Coffee was introduced to Vietnam in 1857 by the French and slowly grew as producer of coffee in Asia. Vietnam is the second largest producer after Brazil, accounting for 14.3 per cent of the world market share.
